Woodside
Community Theatre currently produces one show per year, in mid-November. Auditions are typically during
August. if you're interested in
auditioning for us, or participating in our production in any other way, we'd
love to hear from you at info@woodsidetheatre.org.
Fall
2008 Production: Guys and Dolls
Our fall production for 2008 will be Frank
LoesserÕs ÒGuys and DollsÓ.
Performances will be November 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16. The first read-through rehearsal will
be on September 2. We'll be
rehearsing mostly at Woodside School and the Village Church across the street,
Monday through Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings.
For a synopsis of the show, the songs and
the characters, have a look at:

This year we are delighted to welcome back
most of our artistic staff, including Michael Taylor as Director and Richard
Gordon as Music Director. Our
choreographer this year will be Jane Kellam, who choreographed several of our
shows directed by George Sellman, as well as our 2005 ÒOklahomaÓ. Jane also danced in the chorus of ÒKiss
Me, KateÓ in 2004.
We encourage everyone who wants to be in
the show to audition, and to come prepared to sing a song for us (even if itÕs ÒHappy
BirthdayÓ). Bring sheet music in your key for our amazing accompanist. The way
we do auditions is fun, positive and as low-stress as possible. The first three dates are for
individual auditions — please plan to attend one of these. Everyone should plan to come to the
August 20 dance session — even if you donÕt think youÕre a dancer! And keep your calendar clear for
callbacks on August 21, in case our directors want to see you again before
making their casting decisions.
Thurs. Aug. 7 – Guild Hall,
Woodside Village Church – 7–10 PM
Sat. Aug. 16 – Guild Hall –
10 AM -1 PM
Tues. Aug. 19 – Church Chapel –

Thurs. Aug. 21 – Guild Hall –
7-10 PM – CALLBACKS
There are no speaking roles for children in
ÒGuys and DollsÓ, although we may cast a few kids as part of a family group of
participants. Teen-agers and other
younger folk who can come across on stage as adults, more or less, are most
welcome. As has been our custom, weÕll probably do a much more kid-intensive
show next year! ÒGuys and DollsÓ is a fun show for all ages of audience
members, of course, and weÕll look forward to seeing our younger friends in the
house in November.
Mark your calendar!
If these dates donÕt work for you and your vacation time, please let us
know, and we can arrange something.
We can make appointments for specific times, but this is not
needed. All others should just
come at the beginning of the audition time, sign in, and you will be seen in
order of arriving. If youÕre going for a principal role, it would be helpful to
send us a resume and headshot, ahead of time. Please send this to auditions@woodsidetheatre.org.

WOODSIDE COMMUNITY THEATRE
HISTORY
During the decades of the '50s
through the '90s, Maestro George Sellman organized and directed an eclectic
group of Woodside residents, grown-ups and children, in musical and dramatic
theatre productions. The group
went Òon vacationÓ for 11 years after George retired, and got back together again
in late 2003.
